Meristem Crop Performance is taking a bold step forward in its mission to serve growers worldwide with the appointment of Guillermo Bort as Vice President of International Business Development. With decades of leadership across multiple continents, Bort brings deep global expertise and a passion for serving those who steward the land.
“I have profound respect for farmers and their role as caretakers of one of our most vital resources,” Bort said. “Whether you are in North America, South America, Europe, or Asia, farmers are focused on practical and effective solutions. What tools will solve the challenge at hand? That pragmatic approach inspires me and has kept me aligned with farmers throughout my career.”
A native of Argentina, Bort grew up outside of agriculture but was drawn to the sector by the rich diversity of farming in his home country. He earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires and later broadened his perspective with a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Over 30 years, Bort has held senior roles in technology and biological innovation for agriculture with global leaders such as Bayer, Monsanto, Novozymes, and Valent BioSciences. His career has taken him to Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland, and the United States, building expertise in business development, strategic product management, and global market entry. He currently resides in St. Louis with his wife Mariela and their three children Matias, Felipe and Ines.
