Marquis has announced the Marquis Carbon Intensity Farmer program, in collaboration with their local grain elevators and Verdova, a farmer-owned third-party data company.
Through the program, Marquis will pay for farmers to get a verified Carbon Intensity (CI) score from a Verdova and pick up the cost in support of growers’ existing farm operations even as they “await additional federal guidance on 45Z.”
The Inflation Reduction Act, coupled with our previous investments in high-efficiency bio-refining, opens the door for corn producers to bring us low-CI corn and position themselves for the opportunity in 45Z, explained the company in a news release.
Yield, enhanced efficiency fertilizer, tillage, manure, and cover crops are the five most impactful practices in reducing a grower’s CI. Marquis encourages farmers to contact their local elevators to get your verified CI today, or connect with Marquis at 45Z@marquisinc.com
“It seems Marquis is widening the path for growers to get compensated for their regenerative ag practices,” noted Mitch Eviston, Founder and CEO of Meristem Crop Performance. “We feel this further validates our position in supporting regenerative agriculture to benefit farmers. Meristem is not going to be buying carbon credits, but our product platform fits perfectly with regenerative ag practices that can be monetized through EQIP, Section 45Z and carbon emission offsets. We can help you win.” WATCH VIDEO
