Flynn poised to boost farm ROI in southeast Iowa

08/27/2025

Taylor Flynn of Washington, Iowa developed a love for agriculture early in life, working for a neighboring farm from a young age. His passion for agriculture led to a career serving the farmers of southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri.

With an education at Kirkwood Community College followed by a degree from Iowa State University, Flynn started his professional career with ag retailer Stutsmans, Inc. in Hills, Iowa, then moved on to Wyffels Hybrids. Flynn recently joined the team at Meristem Crop Performance® as a sales representative.

“I’m excited to be part of the team and excited to grow the Meristem business in this area,” Flynn said. “My wife Shelby and I have four kids from the age range of 3 to 12, so we’re busy at home with sports and everything else, but we’re excited to jump on board with Meristem.”

Flynn believes Meristem biological products using patented Bio-Capsule™ Technology will bring many advantages, and return on investment, to farmers in his area.

“The Bio-Capsule is a game changer,” Flynn said. “Things are changing in agriculture whether we like it or not. It’s not just trait-based anymore. We are coming to a new era of biological products that will help us get a higher yield and a better ROI. Just a few years ago there were 50-plus companies trying to figure out this biological space and it was amazing how fast Meristem rose to the top. Take the MaxStax™ Soybean for example. We have been stuck on liquid seed treatment for decades and now we have a convenient planter box treatment that will give us better protection against some of these challenging diseases.

“Meristem’s Excavator® products will be huge for us too here in this part of Iowa. There is quite a bit of no-till farming, and we have heavy residue to manage. We also have quite a few cover crop acres. We’re fighting emergence issues and missing out on the nutrients tied up in that residue.”

Flynn brings with him extensive agronomic and sales experience.

“Agriculture is a relationship-based industry,” Flynn said. “It’s taken a long time to be able to build trust here in southeast Iowa, and being a local boy doesn’t hurt either.”

The Meristem team is excited to see Flynn in action.

“Meristem has the products southeast Iowa needs to produce more bushels for less and Taylor has the knowledge base to get the right products on the right acres,” said Mitch Eviston, Meristem founder and CEO. “He knows the area, he knows the people and his opinion is worth listening to.”
