Domestic supply chain crucial to serving global agriculture

08/19/2025

As the global leader in delivering live biologicals to farms through the patented Bio-Capsule™ Technology platform, logistics and supply chains play a vital role in the success of Meristem Crop Performance®. As Meristem’s new Senior Director of Production, Nick Mylonakis brings broad, international supply chain experience to the role.

“I’m originally from Florida and my background is mainly in supply chain logistics,” Mylonakis said. “Starting in 2007 my brother was a customs broker, and I did the sales for the import/export side, so I got my first taste of the logistics supply chain that way.”

From there, Mylonakis joined Total Quality Logistics, the nation’s second largest third-party logistics brokerage, where he launched new offices in Boston and Orlando. Many of his clients were agriculture-focused, leading him to Helm Crop Solutions. At Helm, he oversaw global supply chain, procurement, production, and shipping for the U.S. crop protection division.

“At Helm, we got into the biological business in 2022,” he said. “I’ve watched Europe transition heavily into biologicals and the U.S. also is now transitioning into biological crop inputs. From the perspective in my past life, Meristem is already where we dreamt to get to, and it is just beginning. Meristem is changing agriculture. The products work, they are EPA certified, and we’re seeing the benefits and the efficacy in the field.”

Mylonakis and his wife, Nicole, have two young children. He already has strong professional ties with Meristem leaders, including John Gertz, Chief Operating Officer, and Dave Schumacher, Chief Commercial Officer.

“Nick brings a wealth of experience to this important role for Meristem. He understands the importance of the supply chain in ultimately getting living biologicals to the farmers when they need them and where they need them,” Gertz said. “As we expand the footprint of Meristem over more acres, serving more farmers, the supply chain and logistics only become more important.”

Mylonakis is excited to begin work with the domestic supply chain used for Meristem products.

“We have a lot of good things happening at Meristem with vertically integrating domestic vendors to add efficiency, save cost and make better products. We control the quality of what’s going into our products and we’re leading this change in U.S. agriculture. I see nothing but opportunity and excitement,” Mylonakis said. “I came from an international business base and now I love being able to put the ‘Proudly American’ flags on the Meristem pails. I don’t know that I was made to be anywhere else.”
